Joshua Levi

February 26, 2010

Here is a list of diagnoses that the doctor has given him:

1)  Most likely has a chromosome abnormality called Trisomy 21 (Down’s Syndrome)

2)  Congenital Heart Defect – Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) – This defect is the most common of heart defects.  It is also known as the “hole in the heart.”

3)  Hepatomegoly – (Enlarged Liver) – Last measured at 23 weeks gestational age was 3.9 cm.  A normal sized Liver at 23 weeks is 2.5 cm.

4)  Right-Side Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia – RCDH for short – Also known as Morgagni’s Hernia – This is a very serious and rare defect that affects the Diaphragm (Diaphragm is a thin membrane that separates the abdomen from the chest).  It is a hole in the diaphragm on the right side which has caused some intestine and part of the liver to move up into the chest cavity.  This has caused the heart to shift to the left and the right lung to be compressed.

This is it in a nutshell.  We have a Fetal MRI appointment at University of New Mexico on monday at 7pm and need your prayers for our son’s condition.  This will give the doctors 3D pictures of Joshua’s chest and abdomen so that they can assess the situation and advise us on where to go for delivery and the care he will need.  I will post more detailed info on these conditions in the future.  Thank you for your prayers!!!

Praying for you all! With all that I’ve been through this last year by best advice is to keep smiling, laughing, and trusting God. Things don’t seem so formidable and bleak when you’re hanging out with the King of Kings who knows EXACTLY what He is doing. My character has been developed to where I seriously think I am practically perfect like Mary Poppins. :0) Yours will be too! Every one at mom2mom is praying for you and I have a lead on a group in Albuquerque that someone’s sister just left from. I have to track her down. Love you all!

We were distressed and saddened to hear such devastating news. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you and young Joshua and we feel confident that in the end our prayers will be heard and answered and the outcome will be a good one.

Besides…Jeff will need another excellent center to round out his growing hockey squad! And from the looks of that photo wee Joshua looks like he will be an outstanding addition to any young hockey squad!

    Regards to all!
